Camping Trip; 31,7 to 1,8

Postby pkinver on Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:42 pm

Camping time again. Not sure of the destination yet.
We will leave the watersports sometime around mid-day on Saturday and return Sunday afternoon.

Anyone interested?

Yes please, I'd love to slalom and pirouette my way to a selected designation. Same as Adrian, anything I can do to help let me know.

Right then.
Camping up the Helford. 3-4 hour trip across Falmouth Bay (weather allowing). Nice little spot between Frenchman's Creek and Tremayne Quay.
High tides on Saturday 31st of July is at 0905 and 2111 (Lows at 0314 and 1521) should allow us to get to the Helford River mouth by 1800 and perhaps wait for the tide if required at the Ferryboat or the Shipwrights.
Weather should be alright (overcast but dry), at least the coast will give us cover from the offshore wind (NW@13mph backing WNW@mph).
I need to get back by about 1200 on Sunday

So...
Meet up at about 1200 to leave FWSA at 1400.

Bring camping stuff:
A tent (or a share in one),
A sleeping bag,
A rollmat,
A pillow (if you want, but make it a small one),
A blanket (light-weight and folds small; great to sit on or in),
A mug (VERY important),
A plate and/or bowl,
Cutlery,
Torch.

Bring food and drink (I will do an evening meal, usually works out at about £5 each):
Lunch and snacks for Saturday (and snacks for Sunday),
A hot drink in a flask (always a good idea),
Stuff for breakfast (bacon, beans, eggs, sausages etc. beg and swap for a complete fry-up),
Booze for the campfire,
2x2L of water,
Treats for Olly.

Bring/book paddling kit:
Sea kayak (no, you can't have a Wild Thing),
Paddle,
Wetsuit (or similar),
Cag,
Deck,
BA.

Bring dry clothes (in a dry bag - borrowed, bought or improvised). Assume it will be cold in the evening, bring a jumper and a hat.

I will bring the following (you can bring your own too if you like, but don't get loaded down):
Kettle,
Cooking pot(s),
Stove,
Lighter (never hurts to have spares mind),
Knife,
Saw,
Dangerous looking wood collecting thing,
Wind break (if I remember),
Cunning fire lighting thing,
Less cunning fire lighting thing,
Chopping knife,
Chopping board,
Dinner.

PLEASE let me know if you are coming (so I know how much to bring) and if you have special dietry requirements (like vegetarianism) so I know what to cook.

Thanks.

This list is not exhaustive. Let me know if I forgot something.

Thanks again,

Olly.

PS. Yes you CAN do tables now in bbcode. Don't mention it.
Olly.
