New sea kayak?

To all those with shiny new sea boats!

Well done, welcome to the sea boat community.

A few things to think about, now youve got your boats.

Q1 do you own a pump? A small hand pump costs £20 but is invaluble. (mine cost £2 from a boat sale.) borrow one from the club on club nights till you buy your own.

Q2 Shiny glowy lights will stop you getting run over. Lots of them. It'll save you getting run over by a large propeller. (and we dont want that!)

Q3 splits are very usefull. An old set cut up can save the day occasionally. Kevin at wild things sells a split kit. (hell you can even buy an old pair of club paddles off us to split up.

Q4 pick up some flares, any are good, but a parachute you can let off and forget about

Q do the hatches float ? not all do, a small leash is usefull sometimes

a bin bag and some bungee can cover as a replacement hatch in an emergency, Or lots of gaffer tape.

Q5 and the usual bag of silly things we carry, talk to ollie or me if your not sure.

A touch of reflective tape may save you getting run over.

Dont spend a fortune, but pick these bits up here and there. Car boots and charity shops are great, if not i recomend mcsalvors as a good kit shop.

Here endeth the lesson
