SENIOR SECTION

Seniors meet on Monday evenings from April to October and then at an indoor pool venue during the winter. See the noticeboard and events sections for variations and special trips planned. In order to help new paddlers more effectively, we would ask that they contact the club before turning up to find the start of the next beginners group.

BEGINNERS

Beginers courses run throughout the season. They are for people who would like to join the club but have never tried kayaking. Run by a qualified coach, there will be 5 or 6 sessions to gently introduce the group to kayaking. See the events page for dates of courses.

SEA KAYAKING

Based in the third largest deep water port in the world and with the Fal Estuary on its doorstep, Falmouth is blessed with great sea kayaking. The club currently has a fleet of six sea boats and is looking to expand the fleet. Members undertake regular camping trips as well as general sea paddles suitable for most levels of ability.

SURF KAYAKING

With coast on three sides, Cornwall is great for surfing and Falmouth is well placed for many of the best beaches. North coast surf spots include the favourites of Gwithian and Godrevy while the south coast sometimes has good surf on Maenporth and Praa Sands.

PLAYBOATING

Play and rodeo boaters find the Sluice at Hayle Harbour quite entertaining. A standing wave and stopper forms at the entrance/exit to Carnsew Pool and begins around two hours prior to high tide. The bigger the tidal range, the bigger the ride. Members also enjoy trips to places such as The Bitches in Wales, as well as river trips.

RIVER-RUNNING

While we haven't got Grade Three rivers on our doorstep, we tend to make winter trips to Dartmoor where we regularly run the Middle Dart. We also paddle the Tamar and are constantly looking to expand the range of rivers we paddle.

JUNIOR SECTION

(8 to 14 years)

Sessions generally run from 6 to 8pm at Falmouth Watersports Association but keep an eye on the noticeboard page for any changes. Please come prepared to go on the water. Paddlers will need: wetsuit, towel, bathing costume, canoeing clothing, warm hat, log book, food (snacks), hot drink and change of clothing.

Travel costs will need to be paid for trips away, Junior Membership runs from April to March and is currently ?30.00 per year. Membership includes BCU insurance and access to the FWSA. Any queries, ring Steve Petherick on 01326 311336.
